Making Your Apartment Smell Like Christmas

There are a million and one candle options out there, however sometimes candles don't fill an entire room with their scent. So, what can we use to make our entire apartment smell like heaven? (This post may contain affiliate links)

Boiling Essential Oils (And Other Yummy Things)

One of my favourite things to do when trying to give my apartment that "fresh" smell is fill the sink with hot water and a few drops of orange or lemon essential oils. That always works wonders and leaves my sink looking nice and clean once I drain it, however now that we are nearing the holidays I want my place to smell like warm cinnamon apples and other festive scents. In this case I turn to my cauldron (sorry i'm still not ready to move on from halloween) and boil up some things on the stove.

Here are some of my favourites you can try.

Warm Apple Cinnamon

- 3 Cups Water

- 1 Sliced Up Apples

- 3 Cinnamon Sticks

- 2 Tsp Cinnamon

- Orange Peels (From One Orange)

- 1 Tsp Of Ginger

Vanilla Wonderland

- 3 Cups Water

- 5 Drops Vanilla Essentials Oils (Or 2 Tbsp Vanilla Extract)

- 2 Drops Lavender Essential Oils

Candy Cane Lane

- 3 Cups Water

- 3 Drops Pine Essential Oils

- 3 Drops Peppermint Essential Oils

- Orange Peels (Half An Orange)

- 1 Cinnamon Stick

Instructions

For any of the recipes listed above, all you have to do is bring the water to a boil and add the remaining items (feel free to add extras of any ingredient that you want more of a scent from). Let everything come to a boil and then reduce heat to medium/high, keeping an eye on it incase the water starts to evaporate to quickly. I like to occasionally take the pot and walk it around my apartment, allowing the scent to really soak in everywhere. You can let this sit for as long as you like, I usually do about an hour and then for the apple cinnamon I pour it into a glass container and leave it out as decor (as you can see pictured above).
