My Fav Donut Recipe

Who doesn't love a good donut right? Well let me share with you my favourite donut recipe and favourite donut topping recipes! These donuts are also baked instead of fried and honestly they taste better *insert non biased opinion*. (Also yes I know "doughnut" is the traditional spelling but come on that is so long to type out every time).

INGREDIENTS (for the donuts only)

- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 1 tsp baking powder

- ¼ tsp baking soda

- ½ tsp salt

- ½ tsp cinnamon

- 1 egg

- 1/3 cup granulated sugar (or 3 tbsp honey)

- 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted

- ¼ cup milk

- ¼ cup yogurt

- 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract


- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a donut pan with non stick spray

- Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt

- In a separate bowl mix egg, sugar, yogurt and milk add the vanilla extract and butter

- Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix(try not to over mix)

- Put into zip lock bag and pipe into donut pan until they are ¾ full

- Bake for 8-10 minutes

Now to get to the best part, topping! I have three favourites, that are my go to choices when I make donuts. Cinnamon sugar, chocolate glaze, and regular glaze.

Cinnamon Sugar

- In a bowl melt 1/4 cup butter

- In a different bowl mix 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon

- Dip donut into butter and then into sugar

- place on rack to cool (or eat warm like me)

Chocolate glaze

- In a bowl melt, 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons butter, 2 teaspoons light corn syrup, and 2 teaspoons water

- Microwave for 20-30 seconds

- Stir and dip donuts


- In a bowl mix, 2 tablespoons butter (melted), 1 1/3 cups powdered sugar, 1 pinch salt, 2 teaspoons evaporated milk, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 3 teaspoons hot water

- Dip donuts while they are warm
